Abstract
As koreans start traveling abroad more and more, the number of imported malaria is on the rise. Imported malaria is usually comprised of falciparum malaria caused by P. falciparum infection, and shows serious side effects such as cerebral infections. The authors have experienced 2 patients confirmed by peripheral blood smear as having P. falciparum infections. One of whom during the clinical course developed cerebral infection, a sign of serious malaria infection, and was cured by a combination therapy of Lariam^(R)(Mefloquine 250mg) and Vibramycin^(R)(Doxycycline 100mg). We wish to report our success in treating these patients.
